Norma “Jo” Boerner, 88, of Mt. Vernon, In, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Charles Ford Memorial Home in New Harmony, In. Jo was born in Sebree, Ky, on September 14, 1935, the daughter of Frazier and Lily (Floyd) Barrett. Jo was married to Jerry Boerner for 41 years, and he preceded her in death in 2000. Jo retired from working in the Sterile Drugs at Bristol Myers Squibb. She was a past member of the American Legion Post #5 Auxiliary and Mt. Vernon Elks.
Jo is survived by her children, Mike Boerner and Sherri (John) Moll; grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin) Bartlett, and Baylee Boerner, great-grandchildren, Pippa, Bowie, and Jax Bartlett; sister, Dorothy Lykins; numerous nieces and nephews, and special lifelong friend, Betty Kincheloe.
Jo had her witty and cheerful personality right until the end. She brought laughter to any room she was in and she kept everyone on their toes “especially at the Charles Ford Memorial Home”. She cherished her family and fur baby, Lili, more than anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Nolan Barrett, and fur baby, Lili.
A celebration of life will be held at the Denning Family Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 1:00 pm with Brother Kevin Waters officiating the celebration. Family and friends are welcome to come and share memories of Jo until 3:00 pm. A private burial will take place at a later date.
